This gorgeous Victorian-era 14k gold, moonstone, and pearl brooch was transformed into a ring some time in the 1950s.
It has a makers’ mark on the inside for Allsopp-Steller Inc (a ring mountain manufacturer active from c.1943-1950 in Newark, NJ), and is hallmarked 14k.
The crowned heart motif was fabulously popular during the Victorian era. Brooches and pins with crowned hearts were sold as wedding gifts.
This is a beautiful and highly wearable example of Victorian sentimental jewelry AND mid-century modern style.
Condition: Good antique condition. Small chip to one of the moonstone hearts that is barely noticeable on the finger, but which I have called attention to in photos.
Ring still bears the marks in the places where the brooch pin and clasp were attached. Light surface wear consistent with age and use.
Size 9.25 (US), but very easily sizable by any competent jeweler due to its construction as a brooch conversion.
